A Bit About Spyderco

Founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser, Spyderco initially focused on selling their first product, the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker, at fairs and trade shows around the country in their Bread Truck. In 1981, the Glessers settled in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife, which featured a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carrying in the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge. This design revolutionized the knife industry.

Karahawk High Performance Specialty Knife

The Spyderco Karahawk is a modern folding knife that combines the features of a classic Southeast Asian karambit with cutting-edge design. The all-black version is perfect for environments where light discipline is important. The hawkbill blade is made from VG-10 stainless steel and the knife features Ernest Emerson’s "Emerson Opener" for automatic blade opening. The blade's curve provides excellent cutting leverage and centers the blade's point in the user's grip. The handle has skeletonized stainless steel liners, forming a karambit ring at the butt end for grip security.

The knife's back lock mechanism is supported by the handle's liners, and the non-slip G-10 scales provide excellent grip. A reversible hourglass pocket clip allows for ambidextrous tip-up carry. The blade, liners, and metal hardware are coated with a low-profile, non-reflective black titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating.

The Karahawk knife features a blade with flat bevels that extend from the centerline of the blade to the cutting edge, maintaining full thickness through a larger portion of the blade for increased strength.

PlainEdge Blade & Specifications

The Karahawk features a sharpened blade with no serrations or teeth, known as a PlainEdge blade. The knife's closed length is 4.5 inches, overall length is 6.5 inches, and the blade length is 2.35 inches. The blade is made of VG-10 steel and has a saber grind.
